So I have moved my blog to http://batterup-lizroth.blogspot.com/. This blog will focus mainly on my baking biz that I started this past spring. I haven’t posted much yet but its a start. I am all done with school now and have taken a sell out Exec Assistant job at my old company in DC. But to keep things real, I started my cake business on the side, and it is doing really well! I get requests from family and friends all the time, and orders from people that found my website online as well (www.batterup.info). So please follow my blog and order things from me in the future. k thanks bai. :-)

Oops
Around 6 AM yesterday I was rushing around with a burning hot sheet tray and decided to use my arm to adjust it and stop it from falling (as I was trying to get the savory croissants in the freezer to cool them off quickly). I felt a singe and heard a sizzle, then looked at my arm where I now have a 3 inch burn mark and no more first layer of skin. It melted away in that second. good thing I am going to the dermatologist today to talk about my OLD burn. I think I am trying to maim every part of my visible body to highlight my wedding dress and ruin every wedding photo that I am in. Awesome.

So here is more stuff to look at from the bakery. Every morning I fill those cases with baked goods fresh out of the oven at 5 AM. It’s a tough job, but someone has to do it! Then I spend the rest of my 9 hour shift decorating cakes, scooping cookies, making scones, making 50 key lime pies, etc.

Happy Birthday, Rich! You should be honored because my blog is only supposed to be about my life as a pastry chef.

Occupational Hazard

This thing better be gone before the wedding.

Week two of work is going well. I still can’t feel my right hand and every muscle in my body hurts, but it is worth it. I sat in on a cake tasting appointment on Monday, and started getting one-on-one sessions on how to make roses. Every chef does it differently so it’s been fun to see how the owner, Linda, makes hers. I am improving, but still have a ways to go. Sounds like I will start decorating some of the cakes starting Thursday. Tomorrow is my day off…THANK GOD. Hopefully I will gain feeling in my hand and feet by then…

Pain
Today is my first day off and after only working for two days I can’t believe how soar I am. Every muscle from my neck through to my fingers are in agony today. I didn’t even know some parts of my arm had muscles, but whatever it is…it hurts. Maybe I will lay by the pool to recover. Or on my couch. Unpacking from my vacation sure isn’t going to happen, that I know.

First day of work was a huge success! An example of my work! :-) I made about 12 different flavors of cookies and 150 scones. lol

Summer Vacation

This was most of us on the last day of school with Chef Zach. I can’t believe school is over but I start my internship on June 7th and I am half excited and half terrified. Not looking forward to getting up at 4 AM but it should be a great experience.
But until then…this is what I will be doing…

And this… (thanks for the pic Juan! I would link it but you know I don’t know how haha)
